Blue Force Gear took the Vickers Sling, arguably the most trusted rifle sling in the tactical world, and stripped it down for hunters and sporting use. What you get is a clean, two-point adjustable sling that carries a long gun the way you'd want on a long trek to the stand. Cinch it up and your rifle or shotgun rides tight against your body with no muzzle wandering or the strap sliding off your shoulder. Give the pull tab a tug to loosen it and you've got plenty of slack to shoulder the gun and take your shot.
The webbing is where this one earns its keep. It's built from INVISTA solution-dyed Cordura, the same military-grade material found on the slings issued to well over 250,000 Marines, Soldiers, and Airmen. Solution-dyed means the color runs all the way through the fibers, so it stays colorfast and won't roll, crack, or harden on you after seasons of sun, sweat, and weather. At 1.25 inches wide and roughly 80 grams, it's light enough that you forget it's there until you need it.
Mounting is about as painless as it gets. It ships with fully captive EZ Swivels that thread right onto the standard front and rear sling studs you'll find on most bolt guns and shotguns. Captive means the hardware won't fall off or get misconfigured, and the swivels back out with a screwdriver, a multi-tool, a dime, or just your fingers. You can run the adjuster at the front or the rear depending on your preference, including flipped for a muzzle-up carry on traditional rifles and shotguns.
The nylon hardware is a smart touch for field use since it won't scratch up your bluing or stock finish the way metal buckles can. Made in the USA and backed by a limited lifetime warranty, this is one of those pieces of kit you buy once and stop thinking about. One quick note from the field: the textured webbing can pick up burs in heavy brush, so a quick pick-off now and then keeps it comfortable.
It mounts to the standard front and rear sling swivel studs found on most bolt-action rifles and shotguns. The included EZ Swivels thread onto those studs, so if your gun has traditional studs you're good to go. Be aware the swivel screw may not pass through certain foreign-made swivels, such as those on the Benelli Super Black Eagle 3.
It's a two-point quick-adjust design borrowed from the Vickers Sling. Pull the tab to loosen and you get plenty of slack to shoulder and fire; give it a tug the other way to cinch the gun tight against your body for carrying. The adjuster can be set up at the front or rear depending on how you like to carry.
