The Birchwood Casey World of Targets Handgun Dueling Tree is one of those range setups that turns a regular practice session into a competition. Six six-inch steel paddles sit stacked on a center post, three facing your side and three facing your buddy's. Land a hit and the paddle swings across to the other side. The goal is simple: knock all six over to your opponent's side before they do the same to you. It's fast, it's loud, and it gives you that satisfying steel clang every time you connect.

What Makes the Dueling Tree Hold Up

Each paddle is cut from 3/8-inch AR500 steel, the abrasion-resistant, heat-treated stuff built to shrug off thousands of rounds. This is the larger frame handgun version, rated for centerfire pistols running anywhere from 9mm up to .45 ACP. The paddles are the working parts, so keep your rounds on them. The V-shaped center post is mild steel and angled to deflect hits and splatter toward the ground, but it isn't AR500 rated, so aim for the circles and diamonds and you'll get years out of this thing.

Setting Up the Handgun Dueling Tree

One of the best parts is how little fuss there is getting it running. No tools, no springs, no mechanisms to fight with. You slide the paddles onto the frame, drop in the retaining hinge pin, and interlock the two base legs so the whole stand cants slightly forward for stability. Most folks have it standing in a few minutes without cracking the instructions. The forward lean does double duty, keeping it planted and angling bullet deflection down and away.

Hauling It to the Range

The entire tree breaks down and packs into a hard molded carry case that looks a lot like a rifle case, which makes tossing it in the truck bed easy. Reset is gravity based, so there's no maintenance beyond shooting it and enjoying the noise. Full setup stands 48.5 inches tall, 28.5 inches wide, and 23 inches deep, and it's proudly made in the USA.
