The Berger 6.5mm 144 Grain Long Range Hybrid Target is a match-grade projectile built for people who chase small groups at big distances. It rides a high-BC, jump-tolerant hybrid ogive that blends a tangent start near the bearing surface with a secant nose up front, which makes it easier to tune and less fussy about seating depth than a pure secant design. Berger backs it with Doppler radar verification showing less than 1% BC variation, so your dope holds true shot after shot. The G1 BC comes in at 0.655 and the G7 at 0.336, with a 1:8" twist or faster recommended to keep it stable.
The standout here is Berger's Meplat Reduction Technology, or MRT. Rather than trimming or pointing tips by hand, the process applies controlled pressure along the nose of each bullet to produce a repeatable profile. The payoff is a higher ballistic coefficient paired with less BC spread from bullet to bullet, which translates to tighter vertical and more forgiving wind calls the farther out you stretch. Pair that with the J4 Target Jacket, held to roughly plus or minus 0.0003" concentricity, and you've got a projectile that doesn't need weight sorting to perform.
This one was dialed in for the popular 6.5 cartridges. It's a natural fit for 6.5 Creedmoor, 6.5 PRC, 260 Remington, 6.5×284, and 26 Nosler. Berger designed the 144gr to complement their proven 140gr Hybrid Target, carrying an identical stability factor while squeezing out improved ballistics from 1:8" barrels.
Think PRS, NRL, F-Class, Palma, and long-range benchrest. If your weekends revolve around ringing steel at distance or stacking X's on paper, the 144gr LRHT gives you the consistency to make hard wind calls look easy. Keep in mind these are components only, not loaded ammunition, so you'll be handloading these to your own recipe.
Berger recommends a 1:8" twist or faster to properly stabilize this bullet. Most modern 6.5 Creedmoor and 6.5 PRC barrels are cut at 1:8" or 1:7.5", so you're usually in good shape. If you're running an older or slower twist, double-check before loading these up.
