Bergara built this Premier barreled action around exactly that mission, mating their smooth, US-made action to a 20-inch stainless barrel that is already chambered and headspaced. In other words, the hard machining is done. You supply the stock or chassis, a trigger if you want to swap it, and an optic, and you have the bones of a serious build.
The Premier action is precision-crafted in the USA from 416 stainless steel and sits on a Remington 700 footprint, which is the single most supported platform in the bolt gun world. That means it drops into a huge range of aftermarket stocks and chassis without a fuss. The action itself carries an enlarged bolt handle, a spiral-fluted body, a dual ejector, and a sliding plate extractor, and it accepts Rem 700 style scope bases with an 8-40 screw pattern. It also takes standard Rem 700 triggers, so you are free to run whatever unit you prefer.
Up front you get Bergara's 416 stainless #5.5 contour barrel at 20 inches. The #5.5 is a balanced medium-heavy profile Bergara uses on their HMR Pro, so it holds a steady point of aim without turning your finished rifle into a boat anchor. The muzzle is threaded 5/8-24 and ships with a thread protector installed, so adding a brake or suppressor down the road is simple. Chambered in .22 Creedmoor, this thing throws high-BC .224 bullets at real speed, making it a legit choice for long-range paper punching, predator work, and reaching out on varmints.
