The Berger 6mm 120 Grain Long Range Hybrid Target bullet is the one a lot of 6mm competitors have been waiting on. It's the heaviest-in-class .243 caliber target projectile Berger makes, and it carries a 0.328 G7 Ballistic Coefficient, the highest available in a 6mm target bullet. That number matters when the wind picks up and the targets get small, because it means flatter shots, less drift, and tighter vertical at range. This 100 count box of 24486 loads up for the cartridges that dominate the line, including 6mm Creedmoor, 6mm Dasher, 6mm GT, 6×47 Lapua, and .243 Winchester.
The heart of this bullet is Berger's Hybrid ogive, which blends a tangent and secant profile into one shape. The payoff is a bullet that's forgiving on seating depth and jump tolerant, so load development goes quicker and you aren't chasing the lands every time your throat wears. It rides a boat tail base and uses Berger's J4 Target Jacket, the same world-class jacket work the company built its reputation on. Minimum twist is 1:7.5 inches or faster, so make sure your barrel is spun up to stabilize it.
Every Long Range Hybrid Target bullet gets Berger's Meplat Reduction Technology, which trims the tips for a cleaner, more uniform meplat. On top of that, the design is Doppler radar verified to hold less than 1% BC variation. In plain terms, that's less guesswork on your dope and more rounds landing where you called them, shot after shot and lot to lot.
This is a purpose-built match bullet, not a hunting projectile. F-Class, PRS, benchrest, and ELR shooters are the crowd it's aimed at, and the feedback from the firing line has been strong on precision and consistency at extreme distance. If you're running a fast-twist 6mm and want to push effective performance out to 1,000 yards and beyond, this is a serious contender for your load book.
Berger lists a minimum twist of 1:7.5 inches or faster for this bullet. A 1:7 or 1:7.5 barrel will keep it stable and let it deliver its full BC. If your 6mm is running a slower twist, this heavy-for-caliber projectile may not stabilize well.
It's a natural fit for the popular 6mm match cartridges, including 6mm Creedmoor, 6mm Dasher, 6mm GT, 6×47 Lapua, and .243 Winchester set up for long range. These pairings let the 120 grain LRHT reach out to 1,000 yards and beyond. Just confirm your twist rate first.
This is a dedicated match target bullet built for competition, not hunting. It's aimed at F-Class, PRS, benchrest, and ELR disciplines where accuracy and high BC are everything. For game, Berger offers separate hunting lines like VLD Hunting and Elite Hunter.
The Hybrid ogive blends tangent and secant shapes, which makes it far less picky about seating depth than a traditional VLD. That jump tolerance usually means quicker load development and consistent groups without fussing over exact seating. It's a big reason this design is so popular on the firing line.
