There's a reason the A400 Xtreme Plus shows up in so many duck blinds every fall. Beretta took an already proven gas gun and refined the details that matter when your hands are cold and the birds are working. The Blink gas system cycles noticeably faster than most semi-autos and digests everything from 2.75 inch field loads up to full-house 3.5 inch magnums without complaint. This version wears Mossy Oak Original Bottomland camo over a synthetic stock, a pattern that blends into flooded timber about as well as anything ever made.
Recoil management is where this gun really separates itself. The Kick-Off system built into the stock uses hydraulic dampeners to soak up the shove, and paired with the soft Micro-Core recoil pad and the gas action, 3.5 inch waterfowl loads feel far more manageable than they have any right to. That matters on high-volume days, and it matters even more when you need a quick second shot on a cripple. The 30 inch Steelium Plus barrel adds smooth swing for passing shots and features lengthened forcing cones that improve patterns and further tame felt recoil.
Beretta pulled several features from the competition world and reworked them for hunting. For most duck and goose hunting, yes. The longer barrel gives you a smoother, more deliberate swing on passing birds and a longer sighting plane with the stepped rib and fiber optic bead. If you mostly hunt tight timber or small blinds, the 28 inch version handles a bit quicker, but the 30 inch is the popular pick for open water and field hunts.
