The 92XI Foreign Combat Series is a collaboration between Beretta USA and Howe Arms, a veteran-owned company founded by a two-tour Afghanistan combat veteran. Each pistol in the series is hand-painted by disabled veteran artists, which means the Vegetato finish on this gun is genuinely one of a kind. The Vegetato Woodland pattern, known in Italian as mimetico Vegetata, has been the standard camouflage of the Italian Army and Carabinieri since 2001. It is a woodland-style pattern designed for environments with mixed grassland, scrub, and brush, and it looks sharp on a full-size steel-framed pistol.
Under the finish, this is a thoroughly modernized Beretta 92. The biggest functional upgrade is the frame-mounted ambidextrous safety, which puts the lever right where your thumb naturally rests in a firing grip. This replaces the slide-mounted safety of traditional 92 variants and makes cocked-and-locked carry far more intuitive, especially for anyone with a background on 1911-style pistols. The X-treme S single-action-only trigger is flat-faced, DLC-coated for smoothness, and breaks at around 4.5 pounds with a short reset. It is a noticeable step up from any standard 92 trigger you have pulled before.
The Vertec-style frame gives the grip a straighter backstrap than a classic 92, which puts the bore axis a little more in line and helps the pistol point naturally. The slide is optic-ready with Beretta's MRDS footprint, so mounting a micro red dot down the road is a bolt-on job with no gunsmithing required.
