Description

The BCM Asymmetric MK2 Charging Handle is one of those upgrades that instantly makes your AR-15 feel better in the hands. Bravo Company designed it around a snag-free profile that lets you charge the rifle fast from your reaction side, with no sharp edges or pinch points to catch on skin, gloves, or gear when you need speed. The whole thing is machined from 7075 T6 aluminum forgings and given a Type III hard coat anodized finish per Mil-A-8625F, Class 2, so it holds up to hard use and shrugs off corrosion.

What Sets the Asymmetric MK2 Apart

This is the large latch version, which extends roughly 1.1 inches past the body for a solid, easy purchase whether you're bare-handed or wearing gloves. The asymmetric single-side latch keeps things simple and clean if you don't need full ambi controls. What really makes the MK2 tick is how it manages force during operation. It's engineered to take the load off the pivot pin and keep charging energy close to the centerline of the rifle, which means smoother pulls and less flex over the life of the part.

Gas Venting on the MK2 Charging Handle

BCM's Mod 3 design adds upper, lower, and side exhaust channels that route gas from the chamber away from your face during operation. These channels are dialed in for the BCM MK2 upper receiver, but you'll still get improved gas diversion on any standard Mil-Spec upper. It's a nice touch on suppressed builds or any setup where you'd rather not eat a puff of gas every time you run the bolt.

Reliability You Can Count On

BCM has earned a serious reputation for tight tolerances and quality control, and this charging handle carries that same standard. It's made in the USA and fits Mil-Spec AR-15 direct impingement platforms. One thing to keep in mind: it is not compatible with adjustable gas keyed bolt carrier groups, so if you're running one of those, look elsewhere. For a standard build, this is a rock-solid choice for range days, training, and everything in between.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will the BCM Asymmetric MK2 fit my Mil-Spec AR-15?

Yes, it's designed to drop right into standard Mil-Spec AR-15 direct impingement uppers. Just note that it is not compatible with adjustable gas keyed bolt carrier groups, so if you're running one of those you'll want a different handle. For a typical build, installation is a simple swap with no gunsmithing needed.

What's the difference between the asymmetric and ambidextrous MK2 versions?

The asymmetric version uses a single-side latch for straightforward operation, while the ambidextrous model lets you charge the rifle easily from either side. This large latch asymmetric handle is a great pick if you primarily manipulate from your reaction side and want to keep things clean and simple. Both share the same snag-free profile and gas venting design.

Does the gas venting on the MK2 really make a difference?

It can, especially on suppressed or gassy builds. The Mod 3 design uses upper, lower, and side exhaust channels to direct gas away from your face during operation. The venting is optimized for the BCM MK2 upper but still improves gas diversion on any standard Mil-Spec upper receiver.

How big is the large latch on this charging handle?

The large latch extends roughly 1.1 inches past the main body, giving you plenty of surface to grab. That makes it easy to run with gloves on or in a hurry. If that feels like more latch than you need, BCM also offers a medium latch version of the Asymmetric MK2.
