The MRAD earned its reputation the hard way, through military trials and duty use, and the SMR takes that same platform and strips out the parts most of us never touch. Since the Single Mission Rifle is set up for one caliber from the factory, Barrett was able to drop the barrel-swap hardware and the folding stock mechanism, trimming close to two and a half pounds and about an inch of overall length off the standard MRAD. What's left is a leaner precision rig that still shares roughly 90 percent of its parts with the original and carries the same .75 MOA accuracy guarantee.

Yes. The 24 inch fluted barrel comes threaded 5/8×24 with a removable two-port muzzle brake, so mounting a direct-thread suppressor or a brake-mounted can is straightforward. That thread pitch is the standard for .30 caliber rifles, so most popular suppressors will work.
