Battle Arms Development pretty much invented the modular ambi safety for the AR-15, and the Bad-Ass-Pro is the refined version of that idea. It runs a Swiss CNC machined, hardened steel center core with two interchangeable levers, so you can set it up for left-handed, right-handed, or genuinely ambidextrous use. The center gives you both a standard 0 to 90 degree throw and a 0 to 60 degree short throw built into the same reversible core, letting you pick the sweep that feels right for your grip and shooting style.
The headline here is the locking system. Instead of the tiny screw heads that strip out or shear off over time, the Bad-Ass-Pro uses a patent-pending dovetail attachment with an internal locking set screw. That screw is self-locking, won't back out, and doesn't need thread-locker to stay put. The result is a lever that locks down solid with no wiggle, which is exactly what you want on a control you're touching every time you shoot. Levers and set screws are steel with a black phosphate finish, and the whole assembly weighs in around three quarters of an ounce.
Compatibility got a lot simpler with this generation. It drops into any lower with mil-spec safety selector hole dimensions and plays nice with the popular aftermarket triggers folks actually run, including Hiperfire, Geissele, CMC, and Timney. You no longer need a short-throw relief cut to run the 60 degree option, since a short-throw marking sticker comes in the kit for lowers that aren't already marked. Install is straightforward with the included wrench, torqued down to spec. One thing worth knowing: the Pro series does not share parts with the older Bad-Ass or CASS safeties, so treat it as its own system.
