There's something addictive about steel that talks back. The Birchwood Casey T-Post Dueling Target is a reactive flipper that swings to the opposite side of the post every time you connect, so you know instantly whether you hit or missed without ever leaving the firing line. Slide it onto a standard T-post, back up to a safe distance, and you've got a self-resetting drill that keeps you honest on speed and accuracy.
The target body is cut from 3/8 inch AR500 steel, which is the workhorse thickness for pistol-caliber steel and the sweet spot for a target that sees a lot of rounds. AR500 carries a high Brinell hardness, meaning it shrugs off pistol hits and rimfire all day without pitting or cratering. A powder coated finish adds a layer of weather protection and gives you that clean black and white contrast that's easy to pick up in your sights, even in flat light.
This one mounts on any standard T-post, the same green fence posts you can grab at just about any farm or hardware store. Drive the post into the ground, slide the target on, and you're shooting in a couple of minutes with no fancy stand or hardware to fuss with. For pistol calibers like 9mm, .45 ACP, and .40, keep your distance at 10 yards or more, and for rimfire you can set up around the same range. Stick to standard FMJ or non-jacketed ammo and always wear eye protection, since steel throws splatter no matter how well it's angled.
Whether you're running solo speed drills or going head to head with a buddy racing to flip it across the post, this target turns a static range day into something a lot more fun. It's a simple, durable piece of gear that earns its spot in the truck.
No, the post itself is sold separately. The target is designed to slide onto any standard green fence-style T-post, which you can pick up at most farm supply or hardware stores. Drive the post into the ground, slip the target on, and you're set to shoot.
The 3/8 inch AR500 steel is built to handle pistol calibers like 9mm, .40, and .45 ACP, along with .22 rimfire. Keep your distance at a minimum of 10 yards for pistol and rimfire to stay safe and protect the target. Stick with standard FMJ or non-jacketed ammo and skip the +P and hardcast loads, which increase the chance of ricochet.
When you hit it, the target flips over to the opposite side of the T-post, giving you instant visual confirmation of a solid hit. It resets simply by getting shot again from the other angle, so there's no walking downrange to check your work. It's great for speed drills or head-to-head shooting with a partner.
AR500 steel is one of the toughest abrasion-resistant grades made for target use, with a high hardness rating that resists denting and cratering from pistol and rimfire impacts. Kept at proper distance with the right ammo, it will take thousands of hits and keep flipping. The powder coating also helps it stand up to weather when you leave it set up outdoors.
