Birchwood Casey AR500 Gong Kit, 6in & 8in, 3/8in Steel Targets

Description

Steel targets are the fastest way to make a range day more fun, and this Birchwood Casey kit gives you two sizes to keep things interesting. You get a 6-inch and an 8-inch gong, both cut from 3/8-inch AR500 steel, which is the go-to hardness for a target that shrugs off repeated hits and keeps its shape. The gongs are laser-cut for clean, burr-free edges, so there's no jagged metal to deal with when you're hanging them or pulling them off the stand.

What the AR500 Gong Kit Brings to the Range

The big draw here is instant feedback. When you connect, you hear the ring and see the swing, no walking downrange to check paper. Both gongs wear a bright white powder coat that stands out against dirt, brush, or a berm, so you can call your hits from a distance. Swapping between the 6-inch and 8-inch plates lets you dial in difficulty, start close and large, then shrink the target or stretch the distance as your groups tighten up.

Built to Take a Beating

AR500 steel is rated to handle serious impact, and this kit is built for centerfire handgun and rifle use with a maximum bullet energy around 3,000 foot-pounds. As a rule of thumb, keep handguns at 10 to 15 yards minimum and rifles back to 100 yards, angle the plates slightly downward, and steer clear of steel-core or armor-piercing ammo to keep the faces smooth and the splatter headed toward the ground. Do that, and these gongs will outlast stacks of paper targets.

Easy to Haul, Easy to Set Up

The hanger design breaks down flat, so the whole kit tucks into a range bag or truck bed without much fuss. Set it up in minutes, run your drills, then pack it out. It's a simple, durable setup that earns its keep whether you're sighting in, teaching a new shooter, or just plinking for fun.
