The Avian X AVXTKY02 is an extended, ported turkey choke made to squeeze the most out of your 12 gauge when a longbeard hangs up just past comfortable range. It runs a .665 constriction and threads into Winchoke-pattern barrels, which covers a wide list of guns including Browning Invector, Winchester 1200/1300/1400, Mossberg Accu-Choke 500/535/930/9200, and Maverick 88. If your gun uses that thread pattern, this one drops right in.
The internal design is where this choke earns its keep. Unique internal groove technology helps peel the wad away from the shot early, and the straight rifling stops the wad from spinning so more pellets stay on target instead of drifting out of the pattern. Radical porting pulls gas away from the shot string as it leaves the muzzle, which keeps the column from getting blown apart. The result is the dense, even patterns turkey hunters chase, with the pellet energy to back it up at extended distances.
This choke is machined from high strength tempered steel and finished in black PVD, so it shrugs off heavy magnum turkey loads and wipes clean without a fight. It's rated for lead, steel, tungsten, and bismuth, which means you can run today's dense TSS loads or stick with classic lead and copper-plated shells without swapping tubes. Castle cuts on the crown lock the choke tight in the barrel and double as exhaust channels for gas to escape quickly.
Every gun and load combo shoots a little different, so pattern it before you head to the woods. Try a couple of your favorite turkey loads on paper at your expected shooting distance and see which one stacks the most pellets in a 10-inch circle. Once you find that sweet spot, you'll know exactly how far you can reach out with confidence.
It uses the Winchoke thread pattern, which fits Browning Invector, Winchester 1200/1300/1400, Mossberg Accu-Choke 500/535/930/9200, and Maverick 88 barrels. Before ordering, check the stamp on your barrel or your owner's manual to confirm your gun uses Winchoke or Standard Invector threads. It will not fit Invector-Plus or back-bored barrels.
Yes. The AVXTKY02 is rated for lead, steel, tungsten, and bismuth, so dense TSS turkey loads are fair game. The tempered steel construction is built to hold up to heavy magnum turkey loads.
Absolutely, and it's worth the time. Every barrel and load combination patterns a little differently, so shoot a few of your favorite turkey loads on paper at your expected range. That tells you which shell your gun likes best and how far out you can reliably reach.
Yes, it's an extended, ported design that sits past the muzzle. The porting helps redirect gas away from the shot string for a cleaner, tighter pattern, and the extension makes it easy to grab and swap. The black PVD finish also helps it clean up quickly after a day of heavy shooting.
