Auto-Ordnance has been making 1911s in the USA for a long time, and the Revolution is one of their most ambitious custom projects to date. This isn't a sticker job or a roll-marked slide. The engravings are detailed, hand-crafted artwork covering both sides of the slide with scenes and symbols from the American Revolution. On the right side you've got the Betsy Ross flag and the actual signatures of five Founding Fathers: Benjamin Franklin, John Adams, George Washington, John Hancock, and Paul Revere, along with a depiction of the Boston Tea Party. The left side carries the Gadsden Flag, Paul Revere's famous midnight ride, and the words "Give Me Liberty or Give Me Death" set in front of a cannon. It's a lot, and it all works.
Under all that artistry is a solid, full-size GI-spec 1911 chambered in .45 ACP. The 5-inch carbon steel barrel and steel frame give it the weight and feel that 1911 fans expect. At 39 oz, it sits right in line with classic full-size 1911s. The blade front and drift-adjustable rear sights are true to the GI setup, keeping the look historically consistent. Safety features include a thumb safety, grip safety, and firing pin block, so all the standard 1911 bases are covered.
The copper-colored grips are their own piece of work, with an eagle and the Declaration of Independence engraved on the left panel and the Liberty Bell on the right. The distressed midnight blue Cerakote finish is topped with a matte clear coat, giving it that aged, heirloom quality without sacrificing durability. Auto-Ordnance describes each Revolution 1911 as a unique work of art with hand-created content. Because of that, no two pistols are exactly alike and there can be slight color variations between individual pieces. It's part of what makes each one its own thing.
