That's the whole idea behind the ATI Alpha Maxx HGA, a 5.56 NATO AR-style pistol built around a 7.5 inch threaded barrel and reinforced polymer receivers that keep the weight way down compared to a full aluminum build. It feeds from standard AR magazines and ships with a 30 rounder, plus flip-up front and rear sights so you can start putting rounds on paper before you've even picked out an optic.
Polymer AR receivers get a bad rap from older designs, but ATI put real engineering into this one. The lower uses a patented hammer and trigger pin retention system that keeps those pins locked in place during firing, and an over-molded metal insert reinforces the buffer tube housing and rear takedown pin, which are exactly the spots where polymer lowers have historically taken a beating. The result is a receiver set that holds up to recoil forces while keeping the whole pistol light enough to carry all day or tuck behind the seat of the truck.
The 7 inch handguard gives you M-LOK slots up front for a light, laser, or hand stop, along with a full-length Picatinny rail across the top for red dots and magnifiers. The muzzle is threaded 1/2×28, so swapping in a different flash hider or brake takes about two minutes. Chambered in 5.56 NATO, it also runs .223 Remington without a hiccup, which keeps your ammo options wide open whether you're stocking up on range fodder or loading something more serious.

Yes. The Alpha Maxx is chambered in 5.56 NATO, which means it safely handles both 5.56 and .223 Remington ammo. That gives you plenty of flexibility, whether you're burning through bulk range ammo or running premium loads.
ATI reinforced the areas that matter most. The lower has an over-molded metal insert strengthening the buffer tube housing and rear takedown pin, plus a patented pin retention system that keeps the hammer and trigger pins from walking during firing. It's a much stronger design than the polymer AR lowers of years past, and it keeps the overall weight impressively low.
It runs standard AR-15 magazines, and many common AR parts will fit. That said, the lower uses ATI's proprietary hammer and trigger pin retention system, so some drop-in triggers and fire control upgrades may not be compatible. If you have a specific upgrade in mind, it's worth checking with ATI on fitment first.
Absolutely. The full-length Picatinny top rail handles red dots, magnifiers, and other optics, while the M-LOK slots on the 7 inch handguard accept lights, lasers, and hand stops. The included flip-up sights fold down out of the way once your optic is zeroed, then stay ready as backups.
