The Athlon Midas Strobe is a tube-style red dot built for speed up close, where a clean 2 MOA dot and a generous sight picture matter more than magnification. The 25mm objective gives you a wide field of view with 1x power, which means you keep both eyes open and stay aware of everything happening around your target. The dot itself is a 2 MOA size, small enough to stay precise at distance but quick to find when things move fast.
Battery life is where this optic earns its keep. Running on a single CR2032 cell, the Midas Strobe delivers up to 50,000 hours of runtime at the medium illumination setting, so you can leave it on and not think twice. The built-in motion sensor wakes the dot from sleep mode the moment it detects movement, then settles back down after a stretch of no activity to save power. Ten brightness settings let you dial the dot to match a dim indoor range or bright midday sun.
Athlon uses advanced fully multi-coated glass here, which cuts reflected light and boosts transmission for a brighter, truer-color image than you'd get from single-coated lenses. The housing is sealed and nitrogen gas-purged, so it shrugs off heavy rain, humidity swings, and the occasional dunk without fogging on the inside. Windage and elevation adjust in 0.5 MOA clicks, and the included screwdriver makes zeroing straightforward.
The Strobe ships with a Picatinny rail mount that drops onto the standard rail you'll find on most ARs, PCCs, and other platforms. With the mount in place the center height sits at 1.57 inches, and a lower 1.0 inch option is available if you pull the riser for a tighter setup. At 6.8 ounces and 2.8 inches long it keeps things compact, and like every Athlon optic it's backed by the Athlon Lifetime Warranty, which transfers if you ever pass it along.
The Midas Strobe uses a 2 MOA red dot. That size is small enough to stay precise on smaller targets at distance while still being quick to pick up when you need a fast sight picture up close. It's a solid all-around choice for a close-range optic.
A built-in motion detector automatically wakes the optic from sleep mode the moment it senses movement, so the dot is on by the time you shoulder your rifle. After a period of no motion it drops back into sleep mode to conserve power. Combined with the 50,000-hour runtime, it means you can leave it ready and not worry about the battery.
It comes with a Picatinny rail mount that fits the standard rails found on most ARs, PCCs, and similar platforms. With the mount attached the center height is 1.57 inches, and you can pull the riser to drop it down to a 1.0 inch low mount. That flexibility lets you set it up for co-witnessing or a lower profile depending on your build.
Yes. The housing is sealed and nitrogen gas-purged, which keeps moisture out and prevents the glass from fogging internally. It'll hold up to heavy rain and even an accidental drop in the water.
