There are AKs, and then there are Arsenals. The SAM7R-62 in plum is the kind of rifle that gets passed around the counter when it comes in, because you just don't see this level of build quality in the AK world very often. The receiver starts life as a hot-die hammer forged blank at the Arsenal factory in Bulgaria, then spends over five and a half hours on a mill before it ever gets assembled. That forging process produces tighter, finer-grained steel than receivers machined from bar stock, and you can feel the difference the first time you run the action.
The 16.3 inch barrel is cold hammer forged on Steyr equipment with a hard-chrome plated bore and chamber, so it will digest steel-cased range ammo by the case and keep on ticking. Up front you get 14×1 left-hand threads wearing the AK-351 muzzle brake, which does a nice job taming the already mild 7.62×39 recoil. Inside, the FIME Group FM-922EUS enhanced fire control group gives you a cleaner, smoother pull than the gritty triggers most people associate with the platform. A side-mounted scope rail is built right in, so adding an optic mount later is simple.
The plum polymer furniture is a nod to the classic Soviet-era look that AK collectors chase, and it wears beautifully against the black receiver. The intermediate-length buttstock runs a 13.4 inch length of pull, which fits a wider range of builds than the stubby stocks on many imports, and it has a trapdoor compartment for the included cleaning kit. Bayonet lug and cleaning rod are present and accounted for.

It runs standard AK-47 pattern 7.62×39 magazines, so surplus steel mags, Magpul PMAGs, and Arsenal's own Circle 10 mags all work. It ships with one 10-round magazine, and higher capacity mags drop right in if you want them.
Noticeably better. Arsenal installs the FIME Group FM-922EUS enhanced fire control group at the factory, which gives a smoother, cleaner break than the stock triggers found in most AK builds. It's one of the few AKs where you won't feel the need to swap the trigger right away.
