There is something about plum furniture on a milled Bulgarian AK that just does it for people, and the Arsenal SAM7UF-85PM delivers the full package. This is a true SAM7 series rifle chambered in 7.62×39, built around a receiver machined from a hot-die hammer forged blank at the Arsenal factory in Bulgaria. That forging process produces denser, finer-grained steel than the bar stock most milled AKs start from, and each blank spends over five and a half hours in the mill before it ever gets assembled. Add the cold hammer forged 16.3 inch barrel with a hard chrome-lined bore and chamber, and you have a rifle built to run for decades.
Old tilt-down underfolders had a reputation for wobble and rough cheek welds. Arsenal reworked the concept with a reinforced straight-back folding stock that locks into both sides of the receiver with four solid pins, whether folded or extended. The result is a noticeably more stable platform that helps tame muzzle climb, while still folding down for compact storage and transport. Overall length runs about 35 inches extended and 25 inches folded, with the rifle weighing in around 7.5 pounds.
The PM version dresses the rifle in plum polymer handguards and pistol grip, that classic Eastern Bloc look collectors chase, and even the included 10-round magazine comes in matching plum. Underneath the good looks you get a stainless steel heat shield in the handguard, 14x1mm left-hand muzzle threads with a removable muzzle nut, a bayonet and accessory lug, a side scope rail, and adjustable iron sights. The mag well accepts standard mil-spec AK magazines, so your existing double-stacks will drop right in.

Arsenal uses a reinforced straight-back design that locks into both sides of the receiver with four solid pins in both the folded and extended positions. That gives it a much more solid lockup than the old tilt-down pattern and helps keep the muzzle flatter during rapid fire. It still folds under the receiver for a compact package around 25 inches.
Yes, the barrel has 14x1mm left-hand threads covered by a removable muzzle nut. That is the traditional AK thread pattern, so most standard AK brakes, flash hiders, and thread-mount devices will fit. The rifle also keeps its bayonet and accessory lug.
