Description

Speeding up a mag change usually means buying a whole new billet lower or fussing with a flared, machined magwell. The Armaspec RHINO R23 skips all that. It clamps onto your standard AR-15/M4 lower and gives you a wide, funnel-shaped opening that guides the magazine home, plus a set of finger grooves up front for a solid grip while you're shooting. Armaspec puts the average reload improvement around 48 percent, and once you run a few mags through one, the reason is pretty obvious: there's a much bigger margin for error when you slam a mag in, so you're not fishing for the well anymore.

Why the RHINO R23 Earns a Spot on Your Lower

The magwell funnel does the heavy lifting on reloads, opening up the insertion angle so mags find their way in even when you're moving or working in low light. The molded grip section is the other half of the equation. Some folks run it as a proper C-clamp style front grip, others just use it as a reference point to index the rifle. Either way, it accepts all standard AR-15 magazines, PMAGs included, so you're not stuck sorting out what feeds and what doesn't.

Installing the R23 Funnel and Grip

This is a true drop-on part. Using the included allen wrench, you back off the three bolts, snap the two halves around the front of your lower where the trigger guard sits, and tighten it back down. Nothing goes inside the trigger guard, no pins get driven out, and there's no permanent modification to the rifle. On most mil-spec lowers from the big names it seats right up. If you're running an enlarged trigger guard or an off-spec lower, a few passes with a file to clear the fit is normal for polymer magwells like this one.

Built From Reinforced Polymer, Backed for Life

The RHINO R23 is molded from ultra-light mil-spec reinforced polymer, so it takes a beating in a range bag and keeps its shape. This FDE version gives you a clean flat dark earth finish that pairs well with tan and multicam builds. It's made in the U.S.A. and carries Armaspec's lifetime warranty.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will the RHINO R23 fit my AR-15 without any gunsmithing?

On mil-spec AR-15, M4, and M16 lowers it snaps right on using the included allen wrench, with no pins to drive out and no permanent changes to the rifle. If your build has an oversized trigger guard or an off-spec lower, you may need a few passes with a file to clear the fit, which is typical for polymer magwells. Most shooters running standard lowers report it seats up direct with no trimming.

Does the R23 magwell funnel work with PMAGs?

Yes. The RHINO R23 accepts all standard AR-15 magazines, including Magpul PMAGs and the Gen 3 PMAG. The flared opening actually gives you a wider target to seat any of them, which is the whole point of the funnel.

How much faster are reloads with the RHINO R23 installed?

Armaspec puts the average improvement at around 48 percent. The bigger benefit for a lot of people is being able to reload without dropping your eyes off the target, since the funnel guides the mag in even when you're moving or working in low light.

Can I use the RHINO R23 as a front grip?

You can. The grip section has molded finger grooves so you can run it C-clamp style or just use it as an index point for a more consistent hold. It gives you a solid handhold up front while still doing its main job as a magwell funnel.
