The Arisaka Indexer is one of those small parts that quietly makes a big difference in how a rifle handles. Machined specifically for the older direct-mount Geissele Super Modular Rail 416 handguard, it bolts right into the threaded inserts on the rail, so there's no need for extra Picatinny sections or clamp-on adapters cluttering up a clean setup. The profile is slim front to back with a slight radius on both faces, which means it gives your hand something to reference without feeling like a bulky brick under your fingers.

How the SMR 416 Indexer Earns Its Spot

The main idea is to run it between two fingers, usually the index and middle. That places your support hand a little further forward on the handguard and gives you a positive reference point every time you mount the gun. Because it sits forward, it stays out of your way when you drop into kneeling or prone and slide your hand back toward the receiver. Used this way, the Indexer helps you load the rifle into your shoulder and keep it there through recoil.

Built Like the Rest of the Arisaka Indexer Lineup

This is CNC machined from 6061 aluminum and finished in MIL-A-8625 Type III hard coat anodizing, the same durable treatment you'll find across Arisaka's control accessories. The wider, flatter face also works well as a hand stop or barricade stop, and it acts as a forward limit so your fingers don't slide off the end of a shorter handguard onto a hot barrel or suppressor. At roughly 2.2 inches long and just under an ounce, it adds capability without adding noticeable weight.

One important note on fitment: this version is made for the older direct-mount SMR 416 rail. If you're running the newer MK15 handguard with M-LOK slots, you'll want the M-LOK version of the Indexer instead. Installation uses the two included flat head screws and calls for an IP25/T25 Torx driver, which isn't in the box, so keep one handy on the bench.
