This is the adapter that put Stern Defense on the map, and it's easy to see why once you've handled one. Instead of hunting down a dedicated pistol-caliber lower, you drop this block into any mil-spec AR-15, M4, or M16 lower receiver and suddenly you're running 9mm or .40 S&W out of Glock magazines. Pair it with a 9mm barrel, a Glock-cut bolt, and a pistol-caliber upper, and you've got a PCC that feeds the same mags as your carry pistol.
What really sets this one apart from the cheaper blocks out there is the last-round bolt hold open. A lot of converted 9mm ARs leave that out, and if you shoot much you know how nice it is to have the bolt lock back on an empty mag. Stern engineered this so the block trips the bolt catch even when a Glock magazine spring is getting tired, which keeps things running the way an AR should.
The body is CNC machined from 6061-T6 aircraft grade aluminum with a type 3 hardcoat anodized finish, so it holds up to real range abuse. The feed ramp is 4140 steel with a nickel boron coating, which smooths out the round transfer from mag to chamber and wipes clean easily. It's compatible with all generations of Glock 9mm and .40 S&W magazines, and folks have had great luck running aftermarket options like ETS mags too.
Installation takes a couple of minutes with the included allen wrench. You seat it like a regular magazine, snug the gib screw against the mag well, then lightly tighten the two smaller set screws. It's built for standard mil-spec forged lowers and works best there, so skip the wild 3D-contour billet lowers. One thing to keep in mind: run a 5.4 ounce buffer or heavier with a carbine spring for 9mm, and step up to at least 7.5 ounces for .40 S&W to keep cycling reliable. Made in the U.S.A.
