For years the double-stack 1911 crowd has been living in a 9mm world, and Alpha Foxtrot decided it was time to bring the platform back to its roots. The AF1911 Romulus in .45 ACP gives you the cartridge John Browning built the original around, except now you get 13+1 on tap from a double-stack magazine instead of the old single-stack eight. The frame and slide are machined from SUS416 stainless steel and wear a black DLC finish, which holds up to holster wear and sweat far better than traditional bluing ever did.
A .45 with a compensator might sound like overkill until you shoot one. The 4.25 inch bull barrel is ramped, threaded, and fitted with a compensator that takes real bite out of muzzle rise, so your dot or sights settle back on target quicker between shots. Speaking of dots, the serrated slide is optic ready with RMR and RMSc footprint compatibility, covering most of the popular red dots people are running these days. An extended beavertail keeps your grip high and comfortable, and the Picatinny rail up front handles a weapon light without any adapter nonsense.
This is still a hammer-fired single action at heart, so you get that crisp, short-reset trigger feel that keeps people coming back to the 1911 pattern decade after decade. The ambidextrous thumb safety works for lefties and righties alike, and the double-stack grip module fills the hand well without feeling like a two-by-four. Feeding duty falls to Check-Mate pattern 13-round magazines, a proven design in the double-stack .45 space.

The .45 ACP Romulus runs double-stack Check-Mate pattern magazines with a 13-round capacity. Two 13-round magazines come with the pistol, giving you 13+1 loaded plus a full reload right out of the box. That is a serious step up from the eight rounds a traditional single-stack 1911 in .45 holds.
The slide supports both RMR and RMSc footprints, which covers a huge chunk of the market. That includes the Trijicon RMR, Holosun 507C series, Shield RMSc, Holosun 507K, and plenty of other compatible optics. Just match your dot to the right footprint and you are set.
It does. The .45 ACP pushes more slide mass around than a 9mm, and the integrated comp on the threaded bull barrel redirects gases upward to fight muzzle rise. Combined with the all-steel frame and slide, follow-up shots come back on target noticeably faster than you would expect from the caliber.
