The Alpha Foxtrot AF1911 Romulus takes the 1911 formula people have trusted for over a century and rebuilds it for the double stack era. You still get the hammer-fired single action trigger and the grip angle that made the original famous, but the steel frame mates to an injected polymer grip module feeding from 20-round double stack magazines. And this particular package doesn't just include one or two mags. It comes with five of them, which is a genuinely useful pile of capacity whether you're running drills or just hate stopping to reload at the bench.
The full-size 5 inch bull ramped barrel is ported, venting gas upward to push the muzzle down as you fire. Combine that with the extra weight of the bull profile up front and the dot or sights settle back on target quickly between shots. The barrel is button rifled stainless with a 1:10 right-hand twist, and the ramped design helps it feed a wide range of 9mm ammo smoothly. Recoil on a steel-framed, ported, full-size 9mm like this is about as soft as it gets.
The MOS cut slide is the version to get if you want flexibility, since it accepts both RMR and RMSc footprint optics through the adapter system, covering popular dots from Trijicon, Holosun, and others. Glowing night sights handle low light duty out of the box, and the rest of the build reads like a wish list: extended beavertail, extended slide release, flared magwell for quicker reloads, ambidextrous thumb safety, and a Picatinny accessory rail for a light.
The whole gun wears a polished black DLC finish over SUS416 stainless steel, a coating known for hardness and corrosion resistance that keeps its looks through real use. Alpha Foxtrot builds these in Georgia with hand fitting on each pistol, and it shows in how the slide runs and the trigger breaks.
The MOS version is the flexible one in the Romulus lineup. It uses adapter plates that cover both RMR and RMSc footprints, so popular optics like the Trijicon RMR and SRO along with a wide range of Holosun dots will mount right up. If you already own a dot in either footprint, chances are good it will work here.
The trigger and controls will feel right at home if you've spent time behind a 1911. It's hammer-fired single action with a crisp pull in the roughly 3.5 to 4 pound range. The difference is the polymer grip module and double stack magazines, which put it closer to the 2011 style of pistol with 20+1 on tap.
The ports vent gas upward as the round leaves the barrel, which pushes the muzzle down and cuts flip noticeably. Paired with the weight of the 5 inch bull barrel and the steel frame and slide, this is a very flat-shooting 9mm. Follow-up shots come back on target fast, which is the whole point of the setup.
This particular SKU ships with five 20-round double stack magazines, which is a big step up from the usual one or two. That's enough to load up for a full range session or a match stage without constantly topping off. Spare mags for this platform aren't always on every shelf, so having five out of the box is a real perk.
