The Alpha Foxtrot AF1911 Romulus is a modern double-stack 1911 built for people who want that classic single-action feel without giving up capacity or modern features. Chambered in 9mm and wearing a 3.5-inch ported bull barrel, it punches well above its price range in terms of what comes standard. The stainless steel frame and slide are CNC-machined from SUS416 and finished in a DLC black coating that looks sharp, resists corrosion, and keeps the action running smoothly even when things get dusty or dirty. The polymer double-stack grip module bumps capacity up to 20+1 rounds, a huge step up from a traditional 1911's single-stack setup.
The 3.5-inch bull barrel is ramped and ported with a 1:10 right-hand twist. The bull barrel design eliminates the traditional barrel bushing, which tightens up the lockup between barrel and slide and contributes to better consistency shot to shot. The porting bleeds off gas upward to counter muzzle flip, and when you're shooting fast on steel or running a competition stage, that reduced muzzle rise means your front sight comes back to the target quicker. Porting works by redirecting propellant gases to counter muzzle rise, and it tends to be most effective with standard to hotter loads. For most range and defensive use with standard 115gr to 147gr 9mm, the porting does its job well.
It is best described as a 2011-style platform. The Romulus uses a stainless steel frame and slide in the 1911 tradition, but the grip module is polymer and houses a double-stack magazine, giving you 20+1 capacity.
