This complete SD BU9 bolt is machined from 8620 AISI steel and treated with a hardened Melonite finish, giving it the kind of surface hardness and corrosion resistance that holds up to steady range days and stays slick once you've got a little grease on the slides. It's cut for both Glock and Colt SMG magazine patterns, so it plays nice with the two most common mag setups people build around.
This bolt drops into both Mil-Spec and Glock-pattern upper receivers and works with standard AR-15/M16 charging handles, so you're not chasing proprietary parts. It comes fully assembled with everything already installed, including the firing pin, spring and retaining pin, the extractor and extractor spring, plus the proprietary center pin and roll pins. That means no fiddling with tiny springs on the bench. Pop it in and you're set. Weight lands right around 15.5 ounces with the center weight in place, and that weight can be pulled if you want to run a JP silent capture spring.
Stern redesigned this bolt to cater to single-stage triggers with short resets, which is exactly what most folks are running in a competition or range PCC. It's also compatible with the Echo trigger and the Law Tactical folding stock adapter, so it slots cleanly into a lot of popular build recipes. The custom 4140 billet extractor is a nice touch too, giving you crisp, consistent ejection round after round.
