The MDT 2-Way Lock Fixed to Fixed Folding Adapter drops in between your chassis and buttstock to add folding capability to most bolt-action chassis rifles running an AR-style interface. This is the Fixed to Fixed version, meaning it works with MDT's tear drop shaped stock interface on both the chassis and the stock side. The 2-way locking design does two jobs: it holds everything tight and straight when you're shooting, and it keeps the stock locked shut once you fold it so nothing flops around in the truck or the case.
MDT builds this thing out of anodized aluminum with solid steel locking components, which is a big reason it feels so rigid when it snaps into place. That solid lockup matters on a precision rig, since any slop at the stock-to-chassis joint can nag at your consistency. Folded up, the adapter shortens your overall footprint for storage and travel, and open it goes right back to a tight, repeatable position.
A couple of things worth knowing before you order. This adapter adds about 1.75 inches to your length of pull, so if your setup already fits you long, factor that in. It also has a solid interface that will not let a bolt pass through, so it's meant for chassis rifles rather than pulling the bolt straight back through the stock. Fixed refers to the tear drop shaped interface, while Carbine refers to the round one, so this Fixed to Fixed model is the pick when both your chassis and stock use the tear drop shape. Note that it isn't compatible with the TAC21, ESS, or ACC chassis, since those have their own folding solutions.
The 2-way lock holds the stock solid and straight when you're in the open shooting position, which keeps your setup consistent.
