The 1791 Gunleather BHX is a leather outside-the-waistband holster made for 1911-style pistols with 4 to 5 inch barrels. It's cut from 100% American Native Steerhide, hand-molded and contoured to the gun so it locks the pistol in place while still riding comfortably against your side. The Classic Brown finish has that broken-in look right out of the box, and it only gets better with wear.
The standout here is the reinforced thumb break strap. If you run your 1911 cocked and locked (Condition 1), this holster keeps that hammer-back setup secure and out of reach of anyone but you. The snap release is quick to disengage once you've got a couple of reps under your belt, so you get real retention without fighting your own gear when it counts.
This one ships with three belt loops, which is where the multi-cant part comes in. You can set it up in the FBI cant for a fast, natural draw while standing, or switch to the back cant if you spend a lot of time seated, driving, or on an ATV. The slots handle belts up to 1 3/4 inches wide, so it pairs well with a proper gun belt. There's also a touch of extra barrel room built in, which means taller front sights and suppressor-height sights clear without issue.
The interior is hand-finished to be easy on your pistol's bluing, and the double-stitched construction is built to hold up to daily carry for the long haul. That covers standard Colt, Kimber, and Sig Sauer 1911s along with the Browning Hi-Power, Ruger SR1911, Rock Island 5" Rock Series, Remington R1, and rail-equipped 1911s. If your pistol falls in that 4 to 5 inch barrel range, it should drop right in.
The three included belt loops let you set the holster up two ways. FBI cant tilts the grip forward for a fast, natural draw while standing. Back cant works better when you're seated, driving, or riding, since it makes the gun easier to reach in those positions.
It will. 1791 built extra barrel room into the BHX specifically so higher front sights and suppressor-height sights don't drag or hang up on the leather. That's a nice touch if your 1911 runs raised or night sights.
