It's a hand-molded steerhide rig that carries four different ways off one piece of leather, so whether you want it strong-side on the hip, tucked inside the waistband, riding the small of your back, or set up for a cross-draw, you're not buying a new holster to get there.
This is the Size 5, right-hand version, which is 1791's full-size and mid-frame footprint. It covers a wide net of popular guns including the Glock 17 and 19, SIG P320 and P226/P229, H&K VP9, S&W M&P 9/40/45, Springfield XD, Beretta 92/M9, CZ 75, Ruger, Walther PPQ, and plenty of similar frames. It's molded to hold the gun snug rather than swallow it, so retention stays honest even after the leather breaks in.
The carry positions are the whole point. A heavy-duty spring steel belt clip handles inside-the-waistband duty and leaves just the clip visible on your belt for a clean, low imprint. Flip to the leather belt slots and you get outside-the-waistband vertical cant, a horizontal small-of-back option, and the cross-draw angle that's easy to reach from a seated position in a truck or at a desk. Switching between them is a matter of how you thread it onto the belt.
1791 makes the 4-Way from 100% Certified American heavy native steerhide, reinforced and double-stitched, with a beveled American steel clip built for all-day comfort. Leather like this softens and conforms the more you wear it, and the stitching is what customers tend to call out most, right alongside the fit and the quality of the leather. It's a traditional build for people who'd rather carry real leather than plastic and want one holster that keeps up with however the day goes.

The holster uses a heavy-duty spring steel clip for inside-the-waistband carry and a set of leather belt slots for the outside-the-waistband positions. From there you get vertical cant on the strong-side hip, a horizontal small-of-back angle, and a cross-draw setup. You change positions by how you route it onto your belt, so it's one holster doing four jobs.
It's built from heavy native steerhide that softens and molds to your body the more you wear it, and the steel clip is beveled to sit flat and comfortable against the belt. IWB gives you the lowest profile with just the clip visible. Like any quality leather holster, it wears in over the first week or two and gets more comfortable as it goes.
Both are the same steerhide construction and same 4-Way design, so it comes down to finish and looks. Classic Brown is a warmer, more traditional leather tone, while Signature Brown carries 1791's darker, richer signature dye. Performance and fit are identical, so pick whichever color you like better.
