Some shotguns just look like they belong in a duck blind, and the Pointer Field Tek FT21 is one of them. Legacy Sports wrapped the synthetic stock and forend in Mossy Oak Shadow Grass Blades, a pattern built to disappear into cattails and flooded timber, then finished the barrel and aluminum receiver in OD Green Cerakote. That combination does more than look good in photos. Cerakote is one of the tougher finishes you can put on a gun that lives in wet, muddy places, and it shrugs off the moisture and abuse that come with a real season of waterfowl hunting.
The 28 inch vent rib barrel is chrome lined steel, which means easier cleanup and better corrosion resistance after long mornings in the rain. Up top you get a fiber optic front sight that grabs light even in that gray pre-dawn glow when the first flights come in. The 3 inch chamber handles the magnum loads most duck and goose hunters reach for, and the 5+1 capacity gives you plenty on tap for dove fields and other upland work too. It ships with five choke tubes, Cylinder through Full, so you can tighten or open your pattern for whatever you are chasing that day.
At 7.2 pounds with a 48 inch overall length, the FT21 hits a nice middle ground. It has enough weight to smooth out your swing on crossing birds without wearing you down on a long walk to the pit. The stock features a ventilated recoil pad to take the sting out of heavy 3 inch loads, plus a rubberized grip surface that stays put when your gloves are soaked. Controls are simple and familiar, with a crossbolt safety right where you expect it.
Pointer has built a solid reputation for delivering Turkish-made shotguns that run well without a premium price tag. If you want a camo semi-auto that is ready for teal openers, late season mallards, and everything between, the Field Tek FT21 is a whole lot of shotgun for the money.
The FT21 has a 3 inch chamber, so it will run both 2-3/4 inch and 3 inch 12 gauge shells. That covers everything from standard field and target loads to the magnum waterfowl loads most duck hunters prefer. Like most semi-autos, it tends to cycle best with quality loads rather than the very lightest budget shells.
Yes, it ships with five: Cylinder, Improved Cylinder, Modified, Improved Modified, and Full. That full spread lets you set up for decoying ducks, pass shooting, upland birds, or clays without buying extra tubes. It uses a multi-choke threaded barrel, so swaps are quick.
That is exactly what this configuration was built for. The Mossy Oak Shadow Grass Blades camo blends into marsh grass, and the OD Green Cerakote on the barrel and receiver stands up well to moisture and rough handling. Add the chrome lined barrel, ventilated recoil pad, and rubberized grip, and you have a package designed for wet, cold mornings.
Pointer is a brand of Legacy Sports International out of Reno, Nevada, with the shotguns produced in Turkey. Turkish shotgun manufacturing has come a long way, and Pointer guns have earned a solid reputation for reliable function and good fit at a very reasonable price point. It is a smart way to get a dedicated camo semi-auto without spending big name money.
