Special Purpose Rifle is not just a name Noveske slapped on this one, it describes exactly what the N4 SPR was built to do: stretch 5.56 NATO out to distances most carbines start struggling with. The heart of it is an 18 inch 416R stainless barrel with a 1:7 twist and a hand polished Noveske Match Chamber, each barrel individually serialized for quality control. An intermediate length gas system smooths out the recoil impulse and keeps the gun running soft, while the 1/2×28 threaded muzzle wears Noveske's Pig Pen device, so it plays nice with a suppressor if that is in your plans.
Both the upper and lower are precision machined from 7075-T6 billet aluminum, hardcoat anodized and then Cerakoted in Armor Black for a finish that shrugs off wear. The lower gets an oversized flared magwell, integrated trigger guard, ambidextrous bolt release, mag release, and a Radian Talon 45/90 safety, plus a tension screw that lets you dial out any play between the receivers. Up top you get the Love Handle ambi charging handle, a Carpenter 158 MPI tested bolt, and a properly staked gas key, the kind of details that separate a Noveske from a parts-bin build.
Noveske's DLC coated single stage trigger breaks at a clean 5 pounds, which suits precision work without feeling fragile for hard use. The 15 inch NSR free float handguard gives you M-LOK slots every 45 degrees under a full length Picatinny top rail, and it locks up with an anti-rotation interface. B5 Systems handles the furniture with the Bravo stock and Type 23 P-Grip, and steel Magpul MBUS Pro sights come installed front and rear.
At 7.1 pounds with a 33.75 inch collapsed overall length, this rifle balances well for a full length setup. Top it with a quality LPVO or a mid-power scope and you have a legitimate crossover gun for matches, coyotes, or just seeing what 5.56 can really do past 500 yards.
Yes. The 18 inch barrel is threaded 1/2×28 and comes topped with Noveske's Pig Pen muzzle device, which is designed to be suppressor compatible. The intermediate length gas system also helps keep the gun running comfortably when shot suppressed.
The SPR, short for Special Purpose Rifle, runs a longer 18 inch 416R stainless match barrel with an intermediate gas system, which squeezes more velocity and downrange consistency out of 5.56 NATO. It is set up as a precision-leaning rifle rather than a general purpose carbine, though at 7.1 pounds it still handles well for its length.
For the most part, yes. The Gen 4 lower includes an ambidextrous bolt release, ambidextrous mag release, and a Radian Talon 45/90 safety selector, plus Noveske's Love Handle ambi charging handle up top. Left-handed users will feel right at home on this rifle.
It ships with steel Magpul MBUS Pro adjustable sights installed front and rear, so you can shoot it as-is. That said, an 18 inch match barrel like this really shines with glass on top, so most owners add an LPVO or a mid-power precision scope to take advantage of the accuracy.
