The Zastava ZPAP85 gives you all of that in a compact package built by the same Serbian factory that has been turning out Kalashnikov pattern firearms for decades. This is not a parts kit build. It comes straight from Zastava's arsenal in Kragujevac with the fit and finish that has earned these guns a loyal following stateside.
The foundation here is serious. You get a 1.5mm stamped and dimpled receiver, a bulged RPK style front trunnion, and a 10 inch cold hammer forged barrel with chrome lining for long service life and easy cleanup after corrosive or dirty ammo. The bolt carrier is hard nickel moly steel, and the fire control components are heat treated and properly matched. These are the same overbuilt touches that made the ZPAP92 a hit, just chambered for the round most of us already have stacked on the shelf.
Zastava added a hinged top cover that flips open for quick maintenance instead of popping off entirely, plus a bolt hold open notch on the selector so you can lock the action back one handed. Sights are a Krinkov style rear paired with a dual aperture front post, and they are adjustable. The muzzle wears a welded thread protector over 14×1 LH threads, so removing it opens the door to standard AK muzzle devices. The stained wood handguard against blued steel gives it that traditional look, while the synthetic grip keeps things practical.
It ships with one 30 round magazine and accepts most standard AK pattern 5.56/.223 mags, so keeping it fed is simple.
