Anyone who has run a can hard knows the drill: a few mags in and the heat mirage coming off that hot tube starts dancing right through your optic. Yankee Hill Machine built the HTP55 to fix that. This 5.5 inch cover slips over YHM's Turbo family of suppressors and cuts down the shimmer so you can stay on target instead of waiting for things to cool off. It also knocks down your heat signature under thermal and saves your knuckles when you brush against a suppressor that has been working overtime.
The biggest complaint with most suppressor covers is that they loosen up and start creeping forward after a range session or two. YHM went a different direction with a locking strap retention system that cinches the cover down and keeps it there through sustained fire. No sliding, no rotating, no glancing up mid string to see your cover walking off the end of the can. It is one of those details you appreciate more the longer you own it.
This is a three layer setup, and each layer earns its keep. The base layer sitting against the suppressor is flash rated to 3000 degrees Fahrenheit, the middle insulating material handles up to 1800 degrees, and the outer shell is 1000 denier Cordura nylon that resists water, fading, abrasion, rot, and mildew. Even the thread is fire resistant, so there is no weak link in the stitching when things get toasty. It is made in the USA, too.
The 5.5 inch length is sized for YHM's Turbo, Turbo T2, Turbo T3, and R45 suppressors. If you are running one of those cans, this is the cover YHM designed specifically for it, so the fit is snug and purpose built rather than a one size fits most compromise. YHM makes other lengths for their Resonator and K series cans, so make sure you match the cover length to your specific suppressor. If you own a Turbo series can, this is the one built for it.
No, and that is really the main selling point. YHM's locking strap retention system cinches the cover tight to the suppressor body so it stays anchored through extended strings of fire. A lot of generic covers loosen up as they heat cycle, but this design was made to eliminate that problem.
