The stock front sight on a Ruger LCR is a black ramp that all but disappears when the light gets low, and that is a tough spot to be in on a gun built for close-quarters defense. XS Sights fixes that with the Standard Dot, a 0.140-inch green tritium front dot wrapped in a reflective white outline. The tritium lamp glows on its own in total darkness, while the white ring catches ambient light so you pick it up fast in daylight and everything in between. It is a genuine upgrade you notice the first time you draw at dusk or clear a dark hallway.
This sight is the middle ground in the XS lineup. The dot is bigger than a typical front blade so your eye finds it quick under stress, but it covers less of the target than the larger Big Dot, which keeps you honest out to around 15 yards. Aiming is simple: set the bottom of the dot in the bottom of the sight channel and put the dot on your target. The low-profile, snag-free shape draws clean and plays nice with the common LCR holsters people already run, so you are not shopping for new leather.
This one is made for the Ruger LCR in .38 Special and .357 Magnum only. It will not fit the 9mm, .22 LR, .22 WMR, or .327 Federal Magnum versions, so double-check your caliber before ordering. The sight is CNC machined from steel at the XS shop in Fort Worth, Texas, and the tritium carries a 12-year glow warranty from the maker.
