Description
The XS Sights R3D 2.0 takes everything that made the original R3D a go-to defensive sight and sharpens it. This second-generation set runs a dual-illuminated front sight that combines a Swiss-made tritium lamp with XS's photoluminescent green Glow Dot, so the front post soaks up ambient light during the day and stays lit when the sun goes down. The rear is a blacked-out, serrated two-dot tritium sight that cuts glare and keeps your eye tracking forward instead of getting lost in a cluttered three-dot picture. The whole set is CNC machined from solid steel bar stock and wears a Black Nitride finish that shrugs off sweat, holster wear, and the abuse of daily carry.
What the Suppressor Height on the R3D 2.0 Buys You
The taller suppressor-height profile is the reason a lot of folks reach for this set. It sits high enough to co-witness over most full-size red dots on M&P M2.0 Optics Ready slides, and it clears the bore for a suppressor if you run one. If you've added an optic and your factory irons disappeared below the window, these bring your backup sights back into view where they belong.
Faster Alignment With the R3D 2.0 Sight Picture
XS widened the rear notch to 0.170 inches, which gives you more daylight on either side of the front post and makes lining things up quicker, especially in poor light. The rear also carries a ledge you can hook on a belt or holster for one-handed slide racking if a hand gets busy. Black PVC rings around the rear tritium lamps sharpen their edges so the two rear dots stay distinct from the brighter front, keeping your focus exactly where it should be.
Installing Your R3D 2.0 Night Sights
The revised dovetail geometry on the 2.0 requires roughly 50 percent less force to press in than the first-generation sights. That makes life easier whether you're using a proper sight pusher at the bench or having a gunsmith knock them in. These fit Smith & Wesson M&P M2.0 Optics Ready Full Size and Compact models in 9mm, .40 S&W, and .45 ACP.

Frequently Asked Questions
Will the R3D 2.0 suppressor height sights co-witness with my red dot?
Yes, the suppressor-height profile is tall enough to co-witness over most full-size optics mounted on M&P M2.0 Optics Ready slides, including the Trijicon RMR and SRO, Holosun 507c series, and Vortex Viper. If your factory irons dropped out of the optic window, these bring your backup sights back into view. They also clear the bore for use with a suppressor.
What pistols do these R3D 2.0 sights fit?
This set (SW-R205P-6G) is cut for the Smith & Wesson M&P M2.0 Optics Ready Full Size and Compact in 9mm, .40 S&W, and .45 ACP. Double-check that your slide is an Optics Ready M2.0 model before ordering, since XS makes separate cuts for standard and optics-ready slides.
How is the R3D 2.0 different from the original R3D?
The 2.0 uses bigger, brighter tritium vials in the rear sight and revised dovetail dimensions that need about 50 percent less force to install. The Black Nitride finish offers roughly 50 percent more corrosion resistance than the older Black Oxide coating. The core dual-illuminated front sight with the Glow Dot carries over from the original design.
Do I need special tools to install these night sights?
A proper sight pusher is the easiest and safest way to press these in, and the improved dovetail on the 2.0 makes that job noticeably lighter. A gunsmith can also install them with a hammer and brass punch. XS includes written instructions and posts install videos on their site if you want to walk through it step by step.
