The XS Sights R3D 2.0 is the second-generation upgrade to one of the most popular notch-and-post night sight setups on the market, cut specifically for the Smith & Wesson Bodyguard 2.0. It keeps the traditional three-dot layout carry shooters already trust, but sharpens up the details that matter when the light gets bad. The front sight runs a 0.145-inch post with a green Ember Glow Dot wrapped around a self-luminous tritium lamp, so the dot charges off ambient light during the day and the tritium takes over when the sun goes down. Paired with a blacked-out, serrated rear, your eye lands on that green front dot without any competing distractions.
The rear sight got a real glow-up here. The two rear tritium lamps are bigger and brighter than the originals, and each one is ringed with a black PVC edge that cleans up the sight picture and keeps the front dot from blending into the rear at a glance. The rear notch measures 0.170 inches wide, which leaves plenty of daylight on both sides of the front post for quicker alignment, especially when you're moving or working in low light. There's also a ledge machined into the rear sight for one-handed slide manipulations if you ever need to rack off a belt or boot.
These are CNC machined from solid steel and finished in black nitride, which holds up better against sweat, holster wear, and corrosion than a standard black oxide coating. That toughness is the whole point on a pocket-carried micro like the Bodyguard 2.0, where the gun rides close and takes abuse. The steel construction also lets the sight act like a spring in the dovetail, so once it's seated it stays put through drops and recoil.
The headline feature is the redesigned dovetail. XS built in an EasyPress crush zone with a lead-in edge that collapses to the slot width during install, cutting the force needed by roughly half compared to the original R3D. You'll still want a sight pusher and the correct front sight tool to do the job right, but it takes a lot of the fight out of the process for both DIY folks and gunsmiths.

The good news is the EasyPress dovetail on the R3D 2.0 cuts the required install force by about half compared to the original R3D, so it's a much smoother job. XS makes both DIY and gunsmith-series pusher kits, and plenty of owners install these at home without issue.
It comes down to how the front dot shows up against your target and in different lighting. The green Glow Dot tends to read a little cooler and can be easier on some eyes, while orange pops against green and brown backgrounds. Both use the same photoluminescent ring and tritium lamp, so low-light performance is identical. This set is the green version.
The 2.0 gets bigger, brighter rear tritium lamps, each surrounded by a black PVC ring for a cleaner sight picture that keeps the front dot from blending in.
