Description
The R3D 2.0 is XS Sights' second take on their popular notch-and-post tritium setup, and the goal here is simple: keep your eye locked on the front sight no matter the lighting. The orange Ember Glow Dot front sight soaks up ambient light and keeps glowing when things go dark, while a tritium vial tucked in the center keeps it lit through the night. A lot of folks find the orange dot easier to pick up quickly than a standard green or yellow, especially in bright daylight, and that front-sight-focus philosophy is baked into the whole design.
What Sets the R3D 2.0 Apart from the Original
The rear sight is blacked out and serrated to cut glare, with two tritium lamps that are bigger and brighter than the first-gen R3D. XS wrapped those rear lamps in PVC rings for a cleaner, more defined edge, which helps your eye separate the front dot from the rear pair for a fast three-in-a-row picture. The 0.170-inch wide rear notch gives the 0.145-inch front blade some breathing room on either side, and that extra space is what makes indexing the front sight quick when the light gets ugly. There's also a ledge machined into the rear for one-handed slide manipulations against a belt or boot heel if you ever need it.
Building the R3D 2.0 to Take a Beating
These are CNC machined from solid steel bar stock and finished in Black Nitride, which XS says roughly doubles the corrosion resistance of the older black oxide treatment. That matters for an everyday carry gun that lives against sweaty clothing. This set is the standard-height version that fits a wide spread of Glock models including MOS cuts, and it works with standard holsters.
Installation was a big focus this time around. XS added a lead-in edge and a crush zone on the underside of the rear sight that drops the force needed to press it in by around 50 percent, so a home install with a sight pusher goes a lot smoother. You can also seat them the old-school way with a punch and hammer if that's your preference. XS backs their tritium with a 12-year illumination warranty.

Frequently Asked Questions
Which Glock models does this R3D 2.0 set fit?
This standard-height set covers a wide range of Glocks, including the 17, 19, 22, 23, 24, 26, 27, 31, 32, 33, 34, 35, 36, and 38, along with MOS variants. It works with Gen 1 through Gen 5 slides on the covered models. If you're running a large-frame Glock like the 20 or 21, you'll want the matching large-frame R3D 2.0 set instead.
Can I install the R3D 2.0 sights myself?
Yes, and XS made that a priority with this generation. A lead-in edge and crush zone on the rear sight cut the required install force by roughly half, so a home job with a sight pusher goes smoothly. You can also seat them with a punch and hammer, though a proper front sight tool and a rear sight pusher make for the cleanest result.
Why choose the orange front dot over green?
The orange Ember Glow Dot tends to stand out faster in bright daylight and against busy backgrounds, and plenty of users find it easier to pick up quickly than a green or yellow front. It still uses a tritium vial in the center for full darkness, so you get high-contrast visibility in any lighting. It really comes down to what your eye grabs onto quickest.
Will these hold up to everyday carry?
They're built for it. The sights are CNC machined from solid steel bar stock and finished in Black Nitride, which roughly doubles the corrosion resistance of the older black oxide treatment, so they handle sweat and humidity well. XS also backs the tritium with a 12-year illumination warranty.
