The R3D 2.0 is XS Sights' second run at their popular notch-and-post night sight, and it fixes the Canik TP9SF up with a sight picture that works in bright sun, dim rooms, and total darkness. The front blade pairs a Swiss-made green tritium vial with an orange Ember Glow Dot ring that soaks up ambient light and keeps glowing when the lights go out. Behind it sits a blacked-out serrated rear with its own tritium lamps and a wide 0.170-inch U-notch, so the front dot pops into view quickly and stays easy to track when things get fast.
These are built for guns that ride with you every day. The CNC-machined steel bodies wear a BlackNitride finish that XS rates at about 50 percent more corrosion resistance than plain black oxide, which matters if your TP9SF spends its life against your side in the heat and sweat. The rear also has a squared ledge you can hook on a belt or holster to rack the slide one-handed in a pinch.
The whole point of the orange front is speed. In daylight the photoluminescent ring gives you a high-contrast aiming point your eye finds instantly, and once it gets dark the tritium takes over front and rear. The serrated, blacked-out rear cuts glare so your eye isn't fighting three glowing dots at once. Instead it drives your focus to that single front dot, which is how most folks shoot faster and more accurately under pressure.
This set is cut specifically for the TP9SF and also fits several other Canik TP models like the SFx, SF Elite, and SC. XS reworked the dovetail on the 2.0 so installation takes roughly half the force of the original R3Ds, though a proper sight pusher and a little know-how still make the job cleaner. The tritium is warranted to glow for 12 years, so you're set for the long haul.

Both the front and rear tritium lamps glow green in low or no light. The orange you see on the box refers to the photoluminescent Ember Glow Dot ring around the front vial, which gives you a high-contrast orange aiming point in daylight.
XS redesigned the dovetail on the 2.0 so it takes about 50 percent less force than the original R3D sights, which makes the job noticeably easier. That said, you still want a proper sight pusher and a punch to seat them cleanly and avoid marring your slide. If you're not comfortable doing it yourself, most gunsmiths can knock it out quickly.
The tritium is warranted to glow for 12 years from XS Sights. Like all tritium, it will gradually dim over its lifespan, but you'll get plenty of usable low-light brightness for years of everyday carry.
