The XS Sights HN-1001-5 pairs a full-length Picatinny lever rail with a ghost ring iron sight set built for the round-barrel Henry .45-70. It solves the classic lever gun problem: the factory sights are fine in good light, but they leave you wanting once you start hunting hard or stretching your distances. This kit opens the door to modern optics while giving you a genuinely usable backup set of irons.
The rail is CNC machined from aircraft-grade aluminum with a hard anodized finish, so it stays light without giving up toughness. It runs to Mil-Std 1913 Picatinny spec, which means you can mount just about anything: a conventional scope over the receiver, a scout scope pushed forward, an LPVO, or a low red dot. That forward mounting option is the big draw for a lot of Henry owners, since it lets you fine-tune eye relief and keep a natural cheek weld on a rifle that was never really built with glass in mind.
The all-steel ghost ring rear is fully adjustable for windage and elevation and ships with two apertures, a .230 inch and a .191 inch inside diameter, so you can tune the sight picture to bright daylight or low timber. Up front, the white stripe post is blued steel with a painted white face that pops against dark hide or a shadowed backdrop, which makes a real difference on a black bear at dusk or a whitetail in heavy cover.
