The Henry .45-70 is a legendary thumper, but its iron sights leave a lot of range on the table. This XS Sights Lever Rail fixes that by giving you a rock-solid, full-length Picatinny platform machined right into a mount that bolts onto your steel-frame round barrel Henry. Whether you're chasing hogs in thick brush or reaching out a little farther in the deer woods, this rail opens the door to modern glass without wrecking the classic lines of your lever gun.
Machined to Mil-Standard 1913 specs, the rail runs the length of the receiver and extends forward to the rear sight cut. That extra real estate is the whole point. You can drop a traditional scope directly over the receiver, slide a red dot back for fast target acquisition, or push a scout scope or LPVO forward to dial in the exact eye relief and cheek weld that feels right. Not many mounts give you that kind of placement freedom on a lever action.
XS makes these in Fort Worth, Texas, out of aircraft-grade aluminum finished with a hard coat black anodize. The result is a rail that stays light on the rifle but shrugs off the recoil of stout .45-70 loads and the general beating of a hunting season. CNC machining keeps everything true so your optic holds zero shot after shot.
This is a straightforward do-it-yourself job. You'll pull the factory rear sight, then set the rail with the included hardware. Just take the torque spec seriously: all screws go to 20 inch-pounds, and going tighter can crack or snap a screw, so a small torque driver is worth having on the bench. Keep in mind this model is caliber-specific and fits Henry steel-frame round barrel .45-70 rifles only. It won't work on brass-receiver or octagonal-barrel guns.

Just about anything with a Picatinny footprint. Because it's machined to Mil-Std 1913 specs and extends forward to the rear sight cut, you can run a conventional scope over the receiver, a red dot, a scout scope, or a low power variable optic. That forward reach lets you set the optic where your eye relief and cheek weld feel best.
It's a manageable do-it-yourself project. You remove the factory rear sight, then mount the rail using the included hardware and threadlocker, following the instructions in the box. The one thing to respect is the torque spec: all screws go to 20 inch-pounds, and over-torquing can fracture or break them, so a torque driver is your friend here.
