The XS Sights F8 is built around one simple idea: your eye should find the front sight instantly, day or night. It does that with a large, high-contrast orange ring around a tritium front vial, paired with a single tritium dot below the rear notch. Stack the front dot over the rear dot and you get the figure-8 that gives these sights their name, a two-point alignment your brain locks onto faster than a busy three-dot setup.
The 0.160-inch front blade is intentionally paired with a wider rear notch, which leaves plenty of daylight on either side of the front post. That extra space is what lets you pick up the front sight quickly under stress or in fading light. The base of the rear notch is rounded to pull your focus up to the top edges of the sights, so alignment feels natural instead of fussy. It's a design that a lot of folks with aging eyes end up loving, since the big orange dot does the heavy lifting for you.
Green tritium in both the front and rear keeps you aimed in true darkness with no batteries to worry about. The orange front ring is also photoluminescent, meaning it soaks up ambient light and glows in dim conditions, and you can top it off with a flashlight if you want it extra bright. That combination shines during the tricky dusk hours when color contrast fades and a lot of standard sights start to disappear.
These are machined from steel with a glare-resistant finish, so they hold up to daily carry and rough use. The squared rear sight has a forward ledge that lets you rack the slide one-handed off a belt or boot, and it fits standard holsters without drama. Yes, the F8 can be installed by hand or with a sight pusher tool. A sight pusher makes the job cleaner and reduces the chance of marring the sights during install. If you're not comfortable doing it yourself, most gunsmiths can knock it out in a few minutes.
