The MDT XRS is the crossover a lot of folks have been waiting for. It takes the comfortable geometry of a traditional rifle stock and blends it with the guts of a real precision chassis, so you get a familiar cheek weld and shoulder feel without giving up the rigidity that helps a rifle shoot tight. This one is cut for the Howa 1500 long action, right-hand, in a Flat Dark Earth finish that looks right at home in the field or on the bench.
At its heart is a full-length CNC machined 6061 aluminum backbone that runs from the forend through the grip and into the buttstock. That aluminum spine is wrapped in textured polymer panels, which cuts weight, keeps the metal off your face and hands in cold weather, and gives it that warmer stock-like feel. The precision aluminum bedding block gives your barreled action a consistent, stress-free seat, and the barrel free floats for the accuracy you'd expect from a chassis. Swapping your factory action over is about as simple as it gets, just move a couple screws and torque it down.
Length of pull adjusts from about 13.25 inches out past 15 using the included spacers, and you can add more if you need them. The comb height runs on a quick-adjust cheek piece so you can line up dead center behind your scope no matter the ring height. It ships with two grips in the box, a swept angled grip that feels like a hunting rifle and a more vertical grip for a precision setup, so you pick your preference. Total weight lands right around 3.9 pounds depending on the inlet, keeping it reasonable for a hunting build while still stable off a bag or bipod.
The roughly 12-inch flat-bottom forend carries M-LOK slots at the 3, 6, and 9 o'clock positions for bipods, ARCA rails, Picatinny sections, weights, and whatever else you like to hang on there. You also get an integrated barricade stop, an ambidextrous magazine latch, AICS-pattern magazine compatibility, and QD sling mounts. The XRS accepts standard AICS-pattern detachable box magazines, released with an ambidextrous latch flanking the trigger guard. That means you can run AICS metal mags, MDT polymer mags, and other common AICS-pattern options. Make sure you match the magazine to your cartridge and long action length.
