This 7.5-inch 9mm barrel from WMD Guns is aimed straight at anyone piecing together a compact AR9 pistol or pistol caliber carbine. It starts life as a 4150V chrome moly vanadium blank, then gets the full WMD coating treatment inside and out. The result is a light, maneuverable barrel that runs a 1:10 twist, which is about as close to a standard as the AR9 world has when it comes to stabilizing everything from 115 grain range loads up to 147 grain subsonic.
Nitromet is WMD's salt bath nitride, and it's the real story here. The process case hardens the surface to around 55 on the Rockwell C scale and carries a longer service life than traditional hard chrome. That means a bore that resists wear, fights corrosion, and wipes clean with a lot less scrubbing than you'd expect. The black finish also covers the exterior, so the whole barrel gets that protection, not just the bore.
