Getting a toddler to keep anything on their head is a battle, so Walker's built the Boomies Passive Muff to make it easier. This is straight-up hearing protection sized for the 1-to-3 crowd, carrying a certified Noise Reduction Rating of 23 dB with zero batteries, switches, or dials to mess with. You slip them on and go, which is about as complicated as toddler gear should ever be.
The whole design is shaped around how little kids move. The cups sit low and contoured against small heads so they stay put through the wobbling, running, climbing, and inevitable tumbles that come with that age. Soft ear cushions handle the comfort side for longer wear, and the lightweight build keeps fatigue down so kids are more likely to forget they even have them on. That last part matters more than any spec sheet, since a muff only protects when it's actually being worn.
Walker's used impact-resistant materials here, which is a polite way of saying these are made to get dropped, thrown, stepped on, and generally abused. That kind of durability is exactly what you want from anything living in a diaper bag or the floor of a truck.
The 23 dB rating knocks down harmful noise without sealing your kid off from the world, so they can still hear your voice and stay aware of what's going on around them. That makes them a smart pick for a first trip to the range, but plenty of parents reach for muffs like these at fireworks shows, races, concerts, air shows, and loud family gatherings too. The Ocean Teal colorway is easy to spot, which is a nice bonus when you're keeping an eye on a small one in a crowd.
Boomies are designed specifically for toddlers aged 1 to 3 years. The cups and headband are sized smaller and contoured to fit little heads that most standard youth muffs are still too big for. If you've got an older child, Walker's makes larger youth muffs that will fit better.
No. These are passive muffs, meaning they block sound through their physical design alone with no electronics involved. There's nothing to charge, switch on, or replace, so you just put them on your kid and go.
Yes. The 23 dB Noise Reduction Rating cuts down harmful, startling noise without sealing your child off completely, so they can still pick up your voice and stay aware of their surroundings. That balance is intentional, since kids tend to panic less when they aren't fully cut off from the world.
Not at all. While they're great for a first trip to the range, parents use muffs like these for fireworks, car races, air shows, concerts, and loud family events. Anywhere the noise gets uncomfortable for small ears, these are worth having on hand.
