Description

Wilson Combat has been building 1911 magazines for decades, and the Elite Tactical Magazine represents the best of what that experience looks like when put into metal and nylon. The ETM was designed from scratch with real-world reliability as the primary goal, and the result shows in every detail.

The tube is built from aircraft-grade certified stainless steel with .025" walls, which Wilson Combat claims is the thickest in the industry. It's heat treated for long-term durability and goes through a proprietary multi-step tumbling and finishing process that leaves the inside and outside smooth enough to promote effortless follower travel and consistent insertion. The cartridge viewing slots are positioned at the rear of the tube rather than the side, which keeps the most structurally critical areas of the tube intact over years of use.

One of the standout features on the 10-round version specifically is the railed feed lip design, licensed from CMC. Ten-round 1911 magazines take more abuse at the feed lips than their 8-round counterparts because of the added weight of the ammo stack during reloads. Wilson Combat addresses this with folded, reinforced feed rails that resist spreading under impact without any sacrifice in feeding reliability. It's a small detail that matters a lot over the lifetime of a magazine.

The fiber-fill nylon follower is self-lubricating and features an extended skirt that keeps it stable in the tube and minimizes creep when the mag is empty, so you get a positive, consistent lock-back every time. The heavy-duty stainless steel spring is wound for maximum tensile strength, meaning it feeds reliably and holds up whether the mag sits loaded on a shelf for months or gets cycled hundreds of times at the range. The removable polymer wrap-around base pad adds grip length to assist with quick reloads and is marked so you can number your magazines for tracking.

Wilson Combat backs the tube with a no-risk service policy: if the tube spreads, cracks, or becomes unusable under normal use, they'll replace it. This mag fits full-size Government Model 1911 pistols chambered in .45 ACP.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will the Wilson Combat ETM 10-round magazine fit any full-size 1911?

The ETM is designed for full-size Government Model 1911 pistols chambered in .45 ACP. It's compatible with the vast majority of full-size single-stack 1911s, not just Wilson Combat guns. If your 1911 takes standard Government Model magazines, this should drop right in.

What makes the railed feed lips on the 10-round ETM different from a standard magazine?

Ten-round 1911 magazines take a harder hit at the feed lips during slide-lock reloads because of the extra weight from the longer ammo stack. Over time, that repeated impact can cause standard feed lips to spread. The railed design uses folded, reinforced feed lips to resist spreading without affecting how reliably the magazine feeds, and Wilson Combat manufactures them under license from CMC, LLC.

Can I leave the ETM loaded for extended periods without damaging the spring?

Yes. The heavy-duty stainless steel spring is wound to maximum tensile strength specifically to handle being kept loaded for long periods without taking a set or losing tension. This is one of the design priorities Wilson Combat emphasized when building the ETM.

The spring feels stiff when I first load it. Is that normal?

Completely normal for a brand-new magazine, especially at 10 rounds. New springs tend to be tight out of the box and loosen up with use as they break in. Loading and unloading the magazine a number of times before taking it to the range is a common practice that helps seat everything properly.

What does Wilson Combat's no-risk service policy cover on this magazine?

Wilson Combat will replace the magazine tube if it spreads, cracks, or becomes unusable through normal use. Springs and followers are considered wear items and are not covered under that policy, since they're designed to be replaced after extended use like any consumable component.

Is the base pad on the ETM removable for cleaning?

Yes, the polymer wrap-around base pad is removable, which makes field stripping and cleaning the magazine straightforward. It also adds a bit of grip length at the bottom of the mag to help with positive seating and faster reloads. The pad comes marked so you can number your magazines if you're tracking round counts across multiple mags.
