Two lenses, one frame, and protection that goes well past your average safety glasses. The Wiley X Citadel Captivate in the CLR/GRY/MTBLK build ships with an interchangeable Captivate Grey lens for bright conditions and a clear lens for low light or indoor ranges, all set in a matte black frame that stays out of your way while you work. The toric lens design follows the natural curve of your eye, which cuts the fishbowl distortion you get from cheaper wrap-around eyewear and keeps your target picture clean edge to edge.
These aren't dressed-up sunglasses. The Citadel is tested to ANSI Z87.1+ for high-velocity and high-mass impact, and it also meets the MIL-PRF-32432A ballistic standard, the same military spec used for combat eyewear. In plain terms, the frame and lenses are built to take a hit and hold their shape instead of shattering into your eyes. The pivoting side shields add coverage against debris, brass, and wind coming in from the sides, and they can adjust or come off depending on how much protection you want that day.
Captivate is Wiley X's premium lens technology, engineered to filter out the muddy blue light and haze that confuse your eye where colors overlap. The result is sharper contrast, more natural color separation, and better depth perception, which helps you pick up targets and read terrain faster. Every lens also blocks 100 percent of UVA and UVB rays.
Comfort is handled by high-traction rubber on the nose pads and temple tips, so the frame stays locked in whether you're moving fast or grinding through a long day. The lightweight frame keeps pressure off your face over extended wear, and the interchangeable lens system lets you swap tints in seconds as the light changes. Wiley X backs the frame with a lifetime warranty.
This CLR/GRY/MTBLK model comes with a Captivate Grey lens and a Clear lens. Some Citadel Captivate variants are polarized while others are not, and the grey lens in this pairing is a non-polarized Captivate tint. If polarization to cut water and windshield glare is your priority, look at the mirrored polarized Captivate versions instead.
Yes. The Citadel uses an interchangeable, shatterproof lens system, and this kit ships with both the Captivate Grey and the clear lens so you can change tints in seconds. That makes it easy to run clear glass on an indoor range or in low light and switch to grey when you step out into the sun.
It is. The Citadel meets ANSI Z87.1+ for high-velocity and high-mass impact and also clears the MIL-PRF-32432A ballistic standard used for military eyewear. That's a real step above basic safety glasses, so it holds up to brass, debris, and higher-energy impacts on the range.
The frame uses high-traction rubber on the nose pads and temple tips to keep the fit locked in, even when you're moving fast. Paired with a lightweight frame, it's built to stay comfortable and secure through long days at the range or outdoors.
