The Wiley X Guard Advanced 4004 is one of those pairs that earns its spot in your range bag by doing a little bit of everything. It's a low-profile wrap-around frame in matte black with two interchangeable lenses in the box, smoke grey for bright outdoor light and clear for indoor bays or low-light work. Swap them out in seconds and the same frame carries you from a sunny sporting clays course to a covered pistol range without missing a beat.
Protection is the whole point here, and Wiley X doesn't cut corners. The Guard Advanced meets the MIL-PRF-32432(GL) military ballistic standard along with ANSI Z87.1+ for high-velocity and high-mass impact, so these hold up to a lot more than the average pair of range glasses. The Selenite polycarbonate lenses are shatterproof, carry a scratch-resistant coating, and block 100% of UVA and UVB rays. That combination of ballistic rating and full UV protection is why folks reach for these on the firing line, out hunting, or just driving around town.
The frame rides low and light, and the flexible bayonet temples tuck in comfortably under ear pro without pinching. There's a removable air-permeable brow bar up top that keeps dust and debris out of your eyes and doubles as a built-in sweatband on warm days. The wrap-around design hugs close to your cheeks for solid peripheral coverage, and the non-slip nose piece keeps everything planted when you're moving around.
The Guard Advanced runs on the larger side, sized for medium to large faces and wider heads with a 76mm lens width and 18mm bridge. If you like a frame that gives you full coverage and doesn't feel dainty, that's exactly what this delivers. Plenty of owners like them enough to grab a second pair for daily wear, which tells you the comfort and clarity live up to the reputation.
This 4004 kit ships with two lenses, a smoke grey pair for bright outdoor conditions and a clear pair for indoor ranges or low light. Both are Selenite polycarbonate, shatterproof, and scratch resistant. You can swap between them in seconds to match whatever light you're dealing with.
Yes. The Guard Advanced meets the MIL-PRF-32432(GL) military ballistic standard as well as ANSI Z87.1+ for high-velocity and high-mass impact. That's the kind of protection built for the firing line, not just casual eye cover.
These run on the larger side and are sized for medium to large faces with a 76mm lens width and 18mm bridge. If you have a narrower face, they may feel a touch big. A quick way to check is reading the numbers printed inside the temple of glasses you already wear and comparing them.
The flexible bayonet temples are slim and designed to sit comfortably under muffs without breaking the seal or pinching. Plenty of folks run them for full range sessions with ear pro on. The low-profile frame helps keep everything sitting right.
