Roll pins are one of those little parts that can turn a simple build into a headache if you don't have the right punch. You get nine ball-profile roll pin punches and nine matching roll-pin starter punches, both covering 5/16", 1/4", 7/32", 3/16", 5/32", 1/8", 3/32", 5/64", and 1/16". The starter punches use a counter-bored tip that cups the pin and keeps it from walking off while you get it seated, and the ball-profile punches finish the job by aligning to the pin and driving it home without deforming it. That two-punch approach is the whole reason this set works so well, since starting a roll pin and driving it are two different tasks that really do call for two different tools.
Every punch is machined and hardened from steel to resist bending while you're leaning on smaller pins, and the knurled handles give you a solid hold whether your hands are bare or you're wearing gloves at the bench.
