This is the Mark V Backcountry Ti2 built as a true left-hand rifle, chambered in .308 Winchester with a 22 inch fluted barrel, and it belongs to the lightest family in the whole Backcountry 2.0 lineup. The receiver is machined from titanium, which trims serious weight over a steel action without giving up strength, and Weatherby leaves it raw so you can see the machine work while the barrel and bolt wear Graphite Black Cerakote.
The stock is Peak 44's Blacktooth carbon fiber, one of the lightest production stocks made at roughly 19 ounces, finished in bare carbon with grey and white sponge accents. Behind it sits the 3DHEX recoil pad, a 3D printed design with internal voids that collapse under recoil to stretch out the impulse and soften the hit on your shoulder. Up front, the Accubrake ST is contoured to match the muzzle and cuts felt recoil dramatically. On a mild round like .308, that combination makes range days and follow-up shots downright pleasant.
Every Mark V carries Weatherby's sub-MOA guarantee: a 3-shot group of .99 inch or better at 100 yards from a cold barrel with Weatherby factory or premium ammo. The externally adjustable TriggerTech trigger breaks with zero creep and minimal overtravel, and the famous 54 degree bolt throw, the shortest in the industry, cycles fast and clears low-mounted scopes with room to spare. Spiral fluting on the bolt body sheds weight and reduces bearing surface for a smoother stroke, topped off with a skeletonized aluminum bolt knob.
The 1-in-10 twist stabilizes just about every factory .308 load on the shelf, from 150 grain deer rounds to heavier match bullets. If you shoot from the left shoulder and count ounces on the way up the mountain, this one was built for you.

The Accubrake ST comes factory fitted and is blended to match the barrel contour, with 30 symmetrical ports that noticeably tame recoil. It threads onto the muzzle, so you can remove it if you prefer to run the barrel bare or attach a different muzzle device. On a .308, recoil with the brake installed is very mild.
The Backcountry Ti2 is the lightest rifle family in Weatherby's Backcountry 2.0 lineup, starting around 4.7 pounds in standard chamberings. The titanium receiver, fluted barrel, spiral-fluted bolt, and 19 ounce Peak 44 carbon fiber stock all contribute. Most traditional wood or synthetic stocked hunting rifles run two to three pounds heavier before you even mount a scope.
