The P22 is a blowback-operated pistol that cycles most reliably with quality high-velocity .22 LR ammunition. CCI Mini-Mags are widely regarded as one of the most dependable options, and copper-jacketed rounds in general tend to keep the feed ramp cleaner than exposed lead loads. Subsonic and bulk standard-velocity ammo can cause cycling issues, so it's worth sticking with HV rounds if reliable function matters to you.
