The VK-1 Complete Upper delivers all the upside of a short-stroke piston in a package that matches the footprint and weight of a standard direct impingement build. The magic is in the details. The VK-1 piston uses a cup and spigot design for a tighter gas seal, plus a staged gas bleed setup with six calibrated vent holes. Three handle function while three bleed off overpressure, so the system self-regulates whether you are running light or heavy loads, suppressed or bare muzzle. Paired with VKTR's patented Long Advanced Carrier Path, the bolt unlocks at a true 22.5 degrees for extra dwell time, which drops chamber pressure before the carrier moves and keeps the cam pin off the receiver wall. Less friction, less muzzle rise, smoother cycling.
This 16-inch build wears a 1:7 twist hammer-forged barrel with a nitride finish, thermal fit to the receiver to squeeze out accuracy and prevent heat-related point of impact shift. The VK-1 is a short-stroke piston, meaning gas drives a piston that pushes the carrier rather than routing hot gas back into the action.
